Vehicular Homicide One of the Greatest Advantages That Our Clients Benefit From Is Our Experience

Paulding County Vehicular Homicide Attorneys

Serious Defense for Serious Charges in Cobb County, Douglas County & the Atlanta Metro Area

There are few criminal charges worse than being accused of killing another human being, and if you find yourself facing allegations of vehicular homicide, your future may be at risk. Driving or riding in a car-one of the most commonplace activities for most people in our area-is yet one of the most dangerous things you can do.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 32,885 people were killed in 2010 alone, making motor vehicle collisions one of the leading causes of accident-related death in our country. While many fatal car crashes are entirely accidental, some are attributed to the negligent or reckless driving of one of the individuals. If you are charged with causing death in a collision, you must take action now to defend your rights and your freedom by enlisting the help of a Paulding County criminal defense attorney.

Vehicular Homicide Penalties

Vehicular homicide is a felony under Georgia Code § 50-6-393 (2012), with a minimum penalty of three years and up to twenty years in prison. You can face this charge for causing a fatal crash and leaving the scene of the accident, as well as for causing the collision as a result of reckless driving, DUI, fleeing a police officer or passing a school bus, or if the accident occurred during the period of a license suspension after being classified as a habitual offender.

"Serious Injury by Vehicle" Charges

A related charge is contained in § 50-6-394, "Serious injury by vehicle," which is also a felony offense and which carries a maximum sentence of fifteen years in prison. It is charged in cases of reckless driving or drunk driving car accidents which result in bodily harm including dismemberment, serious disfigurement and brain damage.

Whether you are charged with causing injury or death in a serious collision, let a former prosecutor from Henrickson & Sereebutra fight to clear your name. No matter what type of evidence there may be against you, there are ways to challenge the charges and seek a reduction in the penalty or even a dismissal or full exoneration.
